In the ever-evolving journey of life, there come moments when we must face the difficult decision to let something go.
We’ve given it our best shot, not just for a few brief weeks, but for months, and even years and still it doesn’t seem to work.
When we think of not having that thing in our life, we might at first feel grief, but perhaps the feeling that follows, is relief.
If we do feel relief, overwhelming relief, we know the tough decision to let something go, is the right one.
As I reflect on the past two years since launching my book, Brave Women Write, I find myself at such a crossroad.
The public programs (writers’ circles, dinners and retreats) that emerged from the book have been a source of inspiration for many and I’ve loved supporting women to tell their story. However, I’ve come to the difficult decision, I can no longer offer them in a way that feels sustainable for me.
And so, I am letting them go.
While these parts of my work are being laid to rest, my mission to support women in amplifying their voices and sharing their stories, remains strong. Indeed, it’s never been more urgent, and important, for women’s voices to be heard.
By embracing change, I’m creating the space for something new to emerge. Something that will bring my mission to life with more potency and impact.
And it will give me time to focus on finishing my novel, Finding Elsie.
Letting go, brings with it, a sense of loss and uncertainty. It’s natural to feel a deep connection to our projects and dreams, but it’s just as important to recognise when something no longer serves their intended purpose.
For me, this realisation came after much contemplation and honest evaluation. Embracing the need to let go requires courage and clarity. It’s not about abandoning our dreams. It’s about reimagining them in new and sustainable ways.
Looking ahead to 2025, I am filled with hope and determination. There is immense power in storytelling, and I will continue to support women in finding their voices and sharing their truths through my regular Brave Women Write blogs.
To all the brave women out there, keep writing, keep sharing, and keep believing in the power of your stories.
And if there’s something you need to let go, I urge you to do it. Letting go creates the space you will need for something new and beautiful to emerge.
To everyone who has supported me by buying the book or attending gatherings, thank you so very much. It means the world to me.
Wishing you and yours a festive holiday, while keeping in our hearts, the many people around the world who are suffering at this time.
See you in 2025.
With love
