There is no greater agony than an untold story inside you.
Maya Angelou
Throughout history, women’s voices have been silenced, overlooked or completely obliterated. Despite progress towards gender equality, there are still significant obstacles that prevent women from writing and sharing their stories.
Since launching Brave Women Write in late 2022, I’ve been chatting with many women to understand why their stories remain buried and untold and what we can do to encourage more women to find their voice and get writing.
There’s many reasons why women don’t write; fear of judgement, lack of time, a sense that it’s self-indulgent, inability to write like [insert name of favourite author here] and finally, and most crippling, a belief that the story inside is not that important and not worth writing.
Whether it’s your own memoir, the story of your grandmother, a how-to guide for women or an epic novel, my purpose is to support you to find your voice and write and share your story with the world.
In addition to the Brave Women Writers’ Circles and Dinners, I offer mentoring for women writers, speeches and interviews and creative writing workshops for women and youth.
