The birth of a (business) school. Come celebrate with us!

On Thursday the 7th of August we’ll be celebrating the launch of The Slow School of Business (Slow School).  Won’t you join us? Click here

It was less than four months ago that I gave birth to the idea. (It came about because of an intense frustration at the short-term, profit-driven mindset of the business world and the business education options on offer. I knew I wasn’t alone and that other people felt the same.)

And now with the superb support of the Slow Team (thanks team, you all know who you are) and our community partner Hub Australia, Slow School is ready for the public domain.

Together we’ve proven that when people come together with a shared purpose, anything is possible. What’s been most exciting has been the willingness of the team to challenge every business education norm and to roll their sleeves up to bring the school to life.

At Slow School, you won’t find gurus, experts or ‘stand and deliver’ teaching – we practice the ‘guide by your side’ approach and put you at the heart of your own learning.

At Slow School you won’t be sitting amongst hundreds of other business people learning the same-old cookie-cutter business success systems – our classes are intimate (maximum of 30) and provide the safe space for you to define success on your terms and to follow your own path.

At Slow School you won’t be learning irrelevant content or theoretical and impractical concepts  – we keep it real by studying real life business stories and the subjects we most want to learn with each other.

At Slow School you won’t acquire more IQ (rational intelligence) – we focus on the EQ (emotional) and SQ (spiritual) by working with principles from Conscious Capitalism, conscious marketing, philosophy, culture, the arts and psychology.

There are so many things we know about this school. We have a clear purpose, a bold vision, shared values and a deep knowledge of who it will serve.  And at the same time there are just as many unknowns; how the curriculum will unfold, the legal structure, financial model and the technology platform required just to start.

As we launch headlong into the unknown, I’m reminding myself daily of Martin Luther King’s famous quote…’faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase’.

This morning as I was taking my daily walk, I made a commitment to invite you on the journey up that staircase. I intend to blog regularly open-heartedly and transparently about the ups and downs of building the school in the hope that you’ll gain valuable insights into how you might build your own purpose-driven business.

The journey started here (check out the recent article in Slow Magazine). Who knows how it will unfold.

If you’d like to share the love on that journey, here’s what I invite you to do:

See you at the launch party, and if not, on the other side!

Yours in conscious marketing
