Last week was a massive week in Sydney. I had courageous conversations with the fabulous business owners at my How to build a business with purpose workshop, with people at the amazing Conscious Capitalism Summit and held many deeply courageous and meaningful conversations with women at my Unstuck in Provence book launch party.
At the book launch we talked a lot about that word courage, what it really meant to people and why it’s an essential human trait. To me, courage is about living a life (and growing a business) that is true to myself and not the one that society, corporations, government, the media and marketers would have me live.
This blog, don’t be a dead fish, that I wrote late last year, sums it up well. I believe the world desperately needs more non-conformists, change-makers and cause leaders – people willing to declare what’s broken in their industry and do something about it. And I believe that small business owners collectively, are the ones to do it.
The many courageous conversations I had last week reinforced for me that I’m not alone. I’m hearing many stories from people who are stuck and feeling disconnected and disenchanted with the status quo.
If this is you, then let me assure you that you also, are not alone, and that I hear you loud and clear. There’s a growing tribe of professionals, freelancers, creatives, artists and corporate escapees that feel the same way too. They also want to build a purpose-driven business, to connect with like-minded peers to learn together and make mindful and conscious decisions about their business (and life) direction.
One thing’s for sure – the answers are within you, not some self-professed business guru. All I’m doing is quietly going about providing the safe space for you and asking the right questions. I’m building a tribe of people that are backing themselves and who care deeply about changing the face of capitalism and leaving the world a better place for future generations.
